The Virtuous Well

Ideas behind the work:

A number of local legends were spun together for this final piece around a narrow, unforgiving community, border disputes and a man who disappeared one night near the well.

We devised a piece where an annual ritual is held as a form of penance by the community for former blood-lust where a man had been wrongly killed. A girl from the village is sacrificed to a bird. As the ritual is performed this year, the community decide it is time for self-forgiveness. The bird is burnt as a sign that the ritual will not happen again.

There was a suggestion by participants to read this as a metaphor for the end of the research Trilogy.
